Tentative contract agreement announced by Minneapolis Public Schools and Minneapolis Federation of Teachers

MINNEAPOLIS - A tentative 2017-19 contract agreement has been reached between Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) and the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) negotiations teams. MFT represents the district’s approximately 3,500 teachers. Details of the tentative agreement will be shared publicly if and when the MFT membership ratifies the contract on March 30.

“Our educators are the heart of Minneapolis Public Schools,” said MPS Superintendent Ed Graff. “I am pleased that we have found a way to honor our teachers within the realities of building a financially sustainable future for Minneapolis Public Schools. I am confident that the terms of the agreement create the conditions for success for both MPS teachers and students.”

MFT President Michelle Wiese states, “Our focus in these negotiations and our continuing fight is for the schools all students deserve.”
