Summer doesn't mean learning has to stop. MPS and our partner organizations offer summer programming opportunities, including learning and enrichment opportunities and summer meals. 

Programs and Activities

Community Education Summer Youth Programs
Community Education offers a range of free and low-cost summer youth programs covering rocketry, sports, babysitting, theater and everything in between!

MPS Summer Session (summer school) programs
MPS offers a variety of summer programming options for families. Some programs designed for credit-recovery are open by invitiation only, but all families are welcome to enroll in enrichment programming suchs as GEMS/GISE STEM Academy programs.

YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities
If you're starting grade 9-12 in the fall, you can take advantage of a FREE membership to the YMCA this summer with the Get Summer program.  Register online by June 14, 2019.

Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
The MPRB offers enhanced programming during summer, including summer camp opportunities.  Fee assistance may be available. For the most up-to-date information, visit their website or contact your local recreation center. The MPRB also offers first-rate sports leagues at a great value for kids 5 to 18 years of age. Learn more and register here. Registration for fall sports (Football, Soccer, Volleyball) begins July 10.

Hennepin County Library
Drop-in programming for kids and families is available at locations throughout Minneapolis. A full list of upcoming events can be found here.

  • United Way 211 provides free and confidential health and human services information for people in Minnesota. Assistance is available in all languages.
