Action Alert - April 2022

Thanks again to everyone who is helping advocate for MPS students, families and staff. As we enter the final six weeks of the legislative session, we are turning our attention to the Minnesota Senate. While the Senate is controlled by Republicans and no Senate Republicans represent Minneapolis, we all know people who live outside the city. Suburban and Greater Minnesota Republican Senators need to hear from their own constituents that education funding is important, particularly special education and English Learner funding. These two important programs are required by the state but are woefully underfunded. This leads to larger class sizes for all students, fewer services and high property taxes.

Please take a moment to read the Action Alert, reach out to friends and family in the communitites listed and ask them to call or email their State Senator. Included in the Alert is a link to help people find their State Senator. I have also drafted a brief letter you may customize to help friends and family communicate with their State Senator.

April Action Alert

Customizable draft letter. Please add a sentence or two about your current experience with the underfunding of schools.
